As part of the administrative objective (Verwaltungsziel – VWZ), the potential of eligible projects and programs of the companies of the City of Vienna's departments should be explored together with EuroVienna and exploited as fully as possible.
EuroVienna's services
- Funding consultation: EuroVienna clarifies thematic focuses and project drafts or ideas and, if possible and desired, provides support in the development of an EU project (including concept development and partner search;
- Funding screening: In the course of a funding screening, the jointly agreed project ideas or those projects that are reported in the course of the year are analysed for funding opportunities and categorized and assessed by EuroVienna (e.g. EU funding, national funding, no funding possible).);
- Organization of events and workshops: To launch the new administrative objective, EuroVienna organized a half-day information event to which all departments of the magistrate, the funds, companies, enterprises of the City of Vienna and the Wien Holding companies were invited. Further information events are planned for 2025 and 2027. In addition, based on the results of the kick-off event, workshops and webinars will be organized on an ongoing basis for interested departments to provide basic and in-depth information on EU-funding;
- Overview of potential project partners: EuroVienna collects and updates an overview of potential project partners in order to exploit synergies and compile potential project consortia more efficiently;
- Support with the annual survey of EU projects within the departments: EuroVienna accompanies and supports the completion of the MA27 survey forms;

Project summary
The aim of the VWZ "More EUROpa for Vienna 2021-2027 - Strengthening Vienna as a centre of innovation with funding" is to at least maintain the current utilization rate of European Union funding available to the City of Vienna compared to the funding period 2014-2020 or, in the best case, to increase it. In this project, EuroVienna is working closely with the departments and companies/funds of the City of Vienna in order to examine their future project ideas with regard to possible EU-funding.
Results and impact
Since Austria's accession to the European Union, the City of Vienna has made efforts to become better acquainted with EU funding instruments and to familiarize itself with the modalities of any participation in EU-funded projects and programmes. The extended focus is increasingly on the financial policy issue of how much EU-money flows back into the budget of the City of Vienna and to the city's organizational units and how successful the municipal administration is in absorbing EU funds. The VWZ "More EUROpa for Vienna 2021-2027" is the follow-up project to the administrative objective formulated in 2015 with the same goals for the previous funding period. The City of Vienna is thus making efforts to enable far-reaching returns of EU funds to Vienna and to strengthen the necessary knowledge management requirements.
